Midland Warriors Return From Las Vegas With Multiple Wins

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Midland University's bowling teams traveled to Las Vegas for the second time in less than a month for a pair of tournaments before the start of the spring semester. The men came away with a runner-up finish at the Sin City Open and were named champions of the Rebel Classic while the women won champions of both events.

At the Sin City Open, held last Friday, the men fell just a few pins short of San Jose State in the varsity division and defeated the Spartans on the JV side. Jared Roberts earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with an average of 213.6. The women edged out West Texas A&M in their division thanks to solid play by Wylicia Faley, Haley Marie Hall and Brianna Oftedahl. Faley was the top female bowler with a 221.3 average and all three Lady Warriors made the All-Tournament Team.

Saturday and Sunday saw more of the same solid play in the Rebel Classic by all three teams. The men's varsity was able to avenge their defeat to San Jose State by besting them over the two-day tournament, and the JV defeated Arizona State to earn their second victory of the weekend. Zach Karr finished second individually with a 241.1 average.

The Lady Warriors defeated the Aggies of West Texas A&M once again to earn the title. Haley Marie Hall won the individual title as well with her average of 203.

Midland University will compete next in the Clarke Crusaders Open. The two-day event will begin on February 6th in Dubuque, Iowa.
